Shark Point

Named after the huge numbers of docile leopard sharks seen in this area, Shark Point is a spectacular diving site. You enjoy fairly strong currents, coral clinging to the rocks. The reef is divided into three sections, which you can explore over a number of days. It is about 18-20 meters deep and is reachable via a 90 minute boat trip.

Similan Islands

Similan Islands diving site is one of the best in Thailand and the world too. It is situated about 100 km off Phukets coast and is very popular for liveaboard trips. One can also reach the area for daytrips. About 20 sites are available for diving here like Koh Similan, Koh Bangru, etc. The region is divided into two main parts, offering completely diverse diving environments. The western side has gigantic granite boulders, stacked upon one another to create superb archways while the eastern side is the home to gorgeous coral gardens.

Anemone Reef

At a short distance from Shark Point, is located Shark Point, which offers a densely packed ecosystem. You can cover this area via both day trips and liveaboard. Here you can see thousands of anemones and anemone fish along with leopard sharks and spectacular lionfish.

King Cruiser Wreck

King Cruiser Wreck is actually a ferry boat that used to ply between Phuket and Phi Phi. But it sank inexplicably and become a popular wreck dive site. It is about 32 meters under water and is home to a lot of marine life. You can see a lot of crabs, eels and groupers here. The area takes about 90 minutes from boat.

Koh Dok Mai

Koh Dok Mai is an island situated about an hour east of Phuket. This is a walldive where you can see almost everything ranging from sea horses to the gorgonias. There are also plenty of species of moray eels here. You can see the Doci Mai, which is a huge limestone coming out of the sea. It takes about 80 minutes to reach the area.

Phi Phi Island

Phi Phi Islands are actually closer to the waters of Krabi, but takes about 100 minutes to reach from Phuket. It has dramatic limestone cliffs and though the diving is not as mind boggling like the islands of Similans or Hin Daeng, it does offer some variety in a restricted area. You can spend a couple of days here as it has provisions for resorts.

Phuket West Coast

Phuket West Coast has the best affordable diving areas. It is great for beginner divers and you can enjoy the reef here at just 5-6 meters. You can occasionally spot the whitetip reef shark here. The area is easily accessible by Freedom Beach, Patong Bay, Paradise Beach, and Bang Tao Beach.

Rachai Noi

This isolated island is perfect for experienced drivers because of greater depths and stronger currents. One can enjoy underwater boulders with manta rays and whale sharks.

Rachai Yai

This is the best diving zone in the east coast with a depth of 25 meters. Featuring sloping rocky faces and hard coral forests, it sure is a treat for divers.

Koh Bon & Koh Tachai

The area has a depth ranging from 33 to 45 meters. The wall is home to leopard sharks, bright corals in turquoise, yellow, pinks and purples and a great place to see manta rays.
